AN ANALYTICAL STUDY OF THE IMPACT OF JEALOUSY TOWARD LIVING TOGETHER IN SOCIETY

Abstract

This research article aims to 1) study the concept of jealousy in Theravada Buddhism and 2) study the impact of jealousy on life and society during the time of the Buddha. 3) Propose a way to alleviate and eliminate jealousy in Thai society. The research design is qualitative. The key informants are the key informants used in the research using in-depth interview tools, totaling 25 pictures/persons. Focus group discussion, number of 9 people, by specific selection. The research tools used were interview forms. Data were analyzed using content analysis techniques with context.

The results showed that 1.The concept of jealousy in Theravada Buddhism Refers to the behavior of people who are jealous Formed by verbal gossip is divided into Behavior expressed verbally is called verbal action and intent in the mind called imagination. 2. Jealousy that affects life and society: 1)It causes damage to the reputation and honor of individuals and institutions. 2) It causes divisions 3) It causes conflict 4) It causes self-importance 5) It causes pride and arrogance path of decay. 3. Guidelines for alleviating and eliminating jealousy in Thai society Solving Heartburn Problems There are many ways in Buddhism. But only some methods are presented namely 1) the way to abstain from 10 unwholesome actions 2) the way to keep the precepts pure 3) the way to overcome the talker with truthful words 4) the way to regard gossip as normal 5) the attitude towards words Gossip correctly These 5 guidelines if followed can alleviate and eliminate jealousy.
