PARENTS' SATISFACTION TOWARD A DIGITAL PLATFORM-BASED PARENT COACHING INNOVATION FOR COMMUNICATION SKILLS TRAINING IN EARLY CHILDHOOD CHILDREN WITH AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER
Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aimed to study parental satisfaction with a digital platform-based parent coaching innovation designed to train communication skills in young children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). The study employed
a Research and Development (R&D) design integrated with the ADDIE Model to ensure a systematic development process, divided into two main phases: analysis, development, and quality validation of the innovation; and trial implementation and refinement of the final version. The target group consisted of parents or primary caregivers of young children aged 3–6 years with ASD, comprising 5 families selected through purposive sampling from a special education center. Data collection instruments included the System Usability Scale (SUS) and a post-use parent opinion and satisfaction interview. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, and qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis.
The results revealed that the target group's mean usability score was 82.00 (SD = 5.52), classified as an excellent and acceptable level. Eighty percent of parents reported satisfaction at levels 4–5 on a 5-point scale. The factors with the highest parental satisfaction were: ease of use of the familiar LINE Official Account platform, receipt of specific and prompt individualized guidance, and a reduction in feelings of isolation in caring for their child. Parental suggestions included adding demonstration video content, a more flexible notification system, and a weekly developmental summary feature. The findings reflect the potential of applying a familiar user platform to parent coaching for children with special needs in the Thai context and provide a framework for developing early intervention support services.
