Abstract

This research aims to study: 1) communication planning for door-to-door campaigns, and 2) communication operations for door-to-door campaigning in the election of Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization Council members. This qualitative study focuses on individuals directly involved in door-to-door campaign communication, totaling 27 participants from five groups: 1) candidates for the Songkhla Provincial Administrative Organization Council, 2) communication consultants, 3) local campaign coordinators working in the field,
4) representatives of voters in the constituency as message receivers, and 5) political communication scholars. The research instruments used were structured in-depth interviews, and the data were analyzed using thematic content analysis

The findings revealed that: 1) Communication planning for door-to-door campaigning must begin with a deep understanding of the local context and residents in order to define appropriate strategies, target groups, and timing. Messages and conversations should be designed to reflect community problems and needs, while the communication process should be systematically structured from introduction to closing. Team management, such as role allocation and rehearsal, is important, and performance indicators should be used to monitor and continuously improve the work. 2) Communication operations for door-to-door campaigning requires both management systems and team skills. It needs a communication quality control system, reporting, and information transfer, along with supporting tools such as maps and recording forms. Teams must have situational communication skills, including active listening and appropriate responses, to build trust even under pressure. Digital tools are also used to track and expand results. Ultimately, this leads to long-term relationships and trust, and increases the success of local-level campaigning.
