Abstract

The purposes of this research were to investigate the current and desirable conditions of transformational leadership among school administrators for enhancing teachers’ active learning management competencies and to propose development guidelines for such leadership. The sample consisted of 128 participants, including school administrators and teachers from the Kham Lai–Don Yai School Network. The research instrument was a 40-item questionnaire with an Item-Objective Congruence (IOC) index of 1.00 for all items. The discrimination indices of the current-condition questionnaire ranged from .450 to .775, with a reliability coefficient of .94, while those of the desirable-condition questionnaire ranged from .440 to .875, with a reliability coefficient of .96. A total of 128 completed questionnaires were returned and analyzed. Quantitative data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, whereas qualitative data were analyzed through content analysis and subsequently summarized by frequency.

The findings revealed that the current condition of transformational leadership among school administrators for promoting teachers’ active learning management competencies was at a high level (μ = 3.55, σ = .703), whereas the desirable condition was at the highest level (μ = 4.69, σ = .470). The proposed development guidelines indicated that school administrators should demonstrate visionary leadership, encourage teacher participation in educational development, support the utilization of instructional media, innovations, and educational technologies, and establish coaching and mentoring systems for individualized teacher development. Furthermore, administrators should foster a positive learning-oriented organizational culture and promote active learning practices that emphasize critical thinking, hands-on learning experiences, and the holistic development of learners to maximize their potential and sustainably enhance the quality of active learning management.
