DEVELOPMENT OF VIDEO MEDIA ON DRUM KIT SKILL EXERCISES FOR LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL STUDENTS PHATTHALUNG COLLEGE OF DRAMATIC ARTS

Abstract

The purposes of this research were to develop and determine the efficiency of a video instructional medium on drum kit skill training sets for lower secondary school students at Phatthalung College of Dramatic Arts, to compare student’s learning achievement before and after using the medium, and to study their satisfaction levels. This study employed a Research and Development (R&D) design. The target group consisted of 9 drum kit major students in the Western Music program, selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included a suitability evaluation form for the medium, pre-test and post-test assessments. Data were analyzed using mean, percentage, and a comparison of pre-test and post-test scores.

The findings revealed that the developed video medium achieved an efficiency of 85.83/88.06, which exceeded the 80/80 criterion. The post-test learning achievement score 88.06 was significantly higher than the pre-test score 57.78, indicating that the medium effectively enhanced the students' knowledge, understanding, and drum kit performance skills. Furthermore, the student’s satisfaction was at the highest level with a mean score of 4.69, specifically in the areas of self-directed learning, drum notation literacy, and the ability to perform correctly according to Western music principles. These results can serve as a guideline for developing instructional media and managing practice-based music education in basic education.
