FACTORS FOR SUCCESS IN PROMOTING SCHOOL-COMMUNITY RELATIONSHIPS : A CASE STUDY OF BAN KHAO THAO SCHOOL, PHANG NGA PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to 1)  study the success factors in promoting school-community relations: a case study of Ban Khao Tao School, Phang Nga Province, and 2)  study the problems, obstacles, and suggestions for promoting school-community relations: a case study of Ban Khao Tao School, Phang Nga Province. This is a qualitative research study using in-depth interviews with 16 key informants: school administrators, deputy school administrators, teachers, members of the school board, and parents. The data obtained were analyzed using qualitative content analysis.

          The research findings revealed that: 1) The study of success factors in promoting school-community relations found that Ban Khao Thao School in Phang Nga Province has four key success factors: stakeholder participation, network building, public relations, and community service. The school continuously provides opportunities for all sectors to participate in its operations, establishes cooperation with relevant agencies, utilizes diverse communication channels, and organizes activities that align with community needs. This has resulted in trust and positive relationships between the school and the community. 2) The study of problems, obstacles, and suggestions for promoting school-community relations found that obstacles included time constraints, parental readiness, access to information, and budget limitations. Suggestions included promoting systematic participation, expanding cooperation with partner networks, and developing communication systems and community services on an ongoing basis to ensure effective and sustainable operations.
