EVALUATION OF THE SAFE BANGPHRA PROJECT PREVENTION OF RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH CIGARETTES, ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES AND ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES AT BANBANGPHRA SCHOOL, UNDER TRANG PRIMARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE 2

Abstract

This independent study, aimed to evaluate: 1) Reaction, 2) Learning, 3) Behavior, and 4) Results of the project participants. The sample consisted of 91 students from Grade 4 to Grade 9 at Banbangphra School during the 2025 academic year. The research instruments included questionnaires, tests, observation forms, and interviews. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation and qualitative content analysis.

The research findings were as follows: 1) Reaction: The overall evaluation was at the highest level. The highest-rated aspect was the practical applicability of the content. The lowest-rated aspect was the appropriateness of the training schedule. 2) Learning: A comparison of pre and post training knowledge revealed significant improvement. The 91 participants had an overall average pre-test score of 9.86 (49.29%), which increased to an average post-test score of 18.04 (90.22%). The post-test scores were markedly higher than the pre-test scores. 3) Behavior: The overall evaluation was at a high level. The highest-rated behavior was the ability to express disagreement or appropriately refuse invitations to use substances. The lowest-rated aspect was the ability to demonstrate concepts or guidelines for protecting oneself and others from substances. 4) Results: The overall evaluation was at the highest level. The highest-rated aspects included teachers observing positive behavioral changes in students and the project fostering a classroom atmosphere that promotes well-being. Qualitative results from interviews indicated that the project successfully enhanced students' desired characteristics (discipline, responsibility, and public mindedness). At the community level, students served as voices of awareness for their families and neighbors, leading to a strong collaborative network between home, school, and the community. This reduced the school's burden and fostered a sustainably safe environment from addictive substances.
