FACTORS RELATED TO THE PERFORMANCE EFFICIENCY OF POLICE OFFICERS IN THE CRIME PREVENTION AND SUPPRESSION DIVISION: A CASE STUDY OF BANGKOK NOI METROPOLITAN POLICE STATION

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: (1) to examine the level of opinions of crime suppression police officers at Bangkok Noi Metropolitan Police Station regarding factors affecting their work performance efficiency, including personnel factors, organizational factors, management factors, and characteristics of the responsible area; (2) to compare the work performance efficiency of crime suppression police officers classified by personal factors; (3) to study the relationships between personnel factors, organizational factors, management factors, and characteristics of the responsible area and work performance efficiency of crime suppression police officers at Bangkok Noi Metropolitan Police Station; and (4) to propose guidelines for the development and improvement of work performance efficiency of crime suppression police officers at Bangkok Noi Metropolitan Police Station. This study employed a quantitative research approach using a census survey method. The population consisted of 100 crime suppression police officers at Bangkok Noi Metropolitan Police Station. The research instrument was a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, and inferential statistics, including t-tests, F-tests, and Pearson’s correlation coefficient.

          The results revealed that the overall level of opinions regarding factors affecting work performance efficiency was at a high level. When considered by aspect, the characteristics of the responsible area had the highest mean score. The comparison of work performance efficiency classified by personal factors showed no statistically significant differences at the .05 level. Furthermore, the results indicated that personnel factors, organizational factors, management factors, and characteristics of the responsible area were positively correlated with work performance efficiency at the .01 significance level, with management factors showing the highest level of correlation. The proposed guidelines for improving work performance efficiency emphasize continuous development of police officers’ skills and competencies, provision of adequate and modern resources and equipment,
