FACTORS AFFECTING THE MANAGEMENT OF SHELTERS FOR CONSTRUCTION WORKERS

Abstract

This research article aims to: 1) analyze the factors that influence the selection of accommodation for construction workers; 2) analyze the factors that affect the physical form of suitable accommodation for construction workers; and 3) promote physical and mental quality of life for construction workers. The article aims to present important factors that influence the management of construction worker accommodation according to labor welfare standards as announced by the Labor Welfare Committee, B.E. 2541, and elevate the quality of worker's life to an international level. The research emphasizes systematic review of related documents and laws, data collection from key informants about daily living conditions, current housing conditions of 21 people, and data analysis using structured in-depth interviews and physical survey in the field to obtain accurate information about the actual housing conditions of construction workers.

          The research findings revealed:

          1) The factors influencing the selection of accommodation for construction workers include: campsite location, layout, infrastructure, number of residents, transportation, environment, safety, and budget.

          2) The factors affecting the physical form of suitable accommodation for construction workers include: budget for constructing accommodation, amount of usable leftover materials from previous accommodations, environmental conditions at the construction site, number of resident workers, and size of the construction project.

          3) The establishment of secure and strong accommodations with sufficient infrastructure and good security systems to prevent theft fosters physical and mental quality of life for construction workers, satisfying their needs and expectations.

          These main factors are crucial components that affect the wellbeing, health conditions, and work efficiency of workers, while also reflecting the country's human rights image at an international level.
