This article aims to synthesize interdisciplinary perspectives on NPD by integrating neurobiological, behavioral, and organizational frameworks. Specifically, it examines the underlying brain mechanisms associated with narcissistic traits, their manifestation in leadership and workplace behavior, and their implications for both clinical practice and organizational management.

This study adopts a qualitative integrative review approach, drawing upon contemporary literature in psychiatry, developmental psychology, neuroscience, and organizational studies. The findings indicate that narcissism is best conceptualized as a multidimensional construct encompassing both grandiose and vulnerable dimensions, characterized by instability in self-esteem and impaired interpersonal functioning. Neurobiological evidence highlights alterations in brain regions associated with self-referential processing and emotional regulation, particularly the medial prefrontal cortex and anterior insula.

In organizational contexts, individuals with narcissistic traits may initially exhibit leadership emergence through confidence and charisma; however, these traits are associated with long-term negative outcomes, including interpersonal conflict, reduced team cohesion, and diminished workplace morale. Such effects may be amplified in hierarchical cultural environments, where authority structures can limit corrective feedback.

This article contributes to the literature by offering an integrated biopsychosocial framework that bridges gaps between clinical, neuroscientific, and organizational perspectives. The findings provide important implications for improving diagnostic accuracy, informing therapeutic interventions, and promoting healthier organizational practices.
